On this page I will tell you about Shopify and my reasoned opinion why Shopify is the most effective and preferred choice for your webstore implementation.

Please find below ten reasons. The reasons are in numerical order, but not necessarily in order of importance, as different merchants will have different needs.

    Shopify is one of the world's most popular and fastest growing e-commerce platforms. It allows a merchant to create a website to showcase its product range and receive orders and payments.

    Shopify is a Canadian listed company. There are over 500,000 merchants worldwide using the Shopify system. Over USD 46 billion in sales has flown through Shopify stores.

    Shopify is offered as a cloud service. This means that as a merchant you do not have to install your own servers and software, nor do you need to care about servicing or maintaining such systems.   • Reason 1: Functionality

    With Shopify, you can manage your entire online store easily through a web browser or smartphone. The management dashboard is easy to use, and you can easily add and edit products, text pages, and blogs directly with graphical editing tools.

    You can sell either to consumers (B2C) or businesses (B2B). You can sell physical products just as well as intangible digital products. Your sales can be tax-free or non-taxable. Your sales may be directed to EU countries or outside the EU.

    You have all the tools you need for running a webstore:

    Shopify stores always work with an encrypted HTTPS (SSL) connection, and the access to the management dashboard is protected with two-factor authentication. You can restrict your employees' access to the dashboard and customer records. Credit card payments are processed in accordance with PCI DSS standard, and the store will automatically warn you of any suspicious transactions.

    Shopify and their hosting team are responsible for ensuring that the service is available, up-to-date and protected from hackers 24/7, allowing you to focus on your core business - selling.

  • Reason 3: You do not need your own developers or administrators

    Shopify is at your disposal for a monthly fee, and you can maintain your site easily yourself.

    Savings compared to other systems are noticeable because you do not need to keep your own developers or server admins.

    As the system is offered as a cloud service, time and money are not spent on setting up software, data centers and Internet connectivity.

    First we define basic business information such as company name, address, and phone number. Next, we define the basic settings, such as currency, units of measurement and language.

    For graphic implementation, Shopify offers 10 free layouts ("themes"), and a large number of paid themes to choose from. The theme you choose can be customized as much as you like to make it look like your own brand.

    Products can be defined either manually using your browser or they can be uploaded as a custom csv file to the service.

    Transaction costs may sound high at first, but you only pay them when you are getting sales. And as your sales volume grows, the costs also decrease.

    You have a graphical editor where you can create and edit text pages and news articles, and you can schedule their publication. The navigation menus of the site are simple to manage so you can easily add new content in them.

    You'll also save money when you can give up your existing home page hosting environment and content management system and move it all to Shopify.

  • Reason 10: You can get your data out any time

    You want to change to another e-commerce platform for some reason? No problem. You can export all customers, orders and product information as csv tables or through the API. This allows you to migrate your shop to another environment.
